BIOGRAPHY

Born in the uk (1995) to a Maltese father and English mother, Dom Carmelo has been studying guitar since the age of 10 and began performing at the age of 14.

In 2016, he graduated with a BA(hons) degree from the London Centre of Contemporary Music where he studied guitar performance, production, composition and advanced jazz theory.

After receiving his degree, he worked as a session guitarist in London in various genres including RnB, Pop, HipHop & Jazz for UK artists such as Shola Ama and Kadeem Tyrell. Azekel, Rebecca Garton, Jords, Cara Hammond, Richie(Kokoroko), Nectar Woode, Natalie May and Bina.

With an affinity for his father homeland of Malta, he has taken a keen interest in working with musicians on the island and performed with musicians like Gaia Cauchi, Kevin Paul, Aidan Cassar, The Musea Orchestra, The Alchemists and Kersten Graham.

Dom has gained recognition amongst musicians and producers who, themselves, have and are making waves across the industry. Since 2020, he has collaborated with Nat Powers, SlicVic, Hugo Mari, The Grime Violinist, Intalek, Kevin Gani and Tommy Parker.

These collaborations have led to recording for some of the biggest artists in music right now; Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Tinie Tempah, Iyamah, Rebecca Garton, to name but a few.

He has performed in some of London and Malta’s most esteemed stages, from Ronnie Scott’s, Boisdale, Manoel Theatre to Boomtown Festival, Pennfest Festival and much more. Dom continues to expand his repertoire, playing Guitar and Bass in hit musicals such as, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream-coat”, “We will Rock You”, and most recently, “Zeta Tal’Flagship”.

To this day, Dom commit’s his efforts into developing both knowledge and ability with his guitar, performing as both a solo act and within larger ensembles throughout the UK and Europe, and, compiling a collection of original recordings as his first, solo, LP Album.
